Hello everyone,

As you may have noticed the JWMB was offline last night and today for technical reasons. The problem was related to the database that required that I stop all activity on the site before the problem could be addressed.

I appreciate your patience.

Cheers

Thanks Kevin,
Did notice it was kinda slow just lately.
Thanks for sorting it out.
It was slow for the last three days,
then started to show Database error.

Is anyone else finding the board slow to navigate??
Seems to take an eternity to load a page?

Most nights, I find it incredibly slow. I thought it was just my computer. Glad to hear it isn't. lol

What we encountered was a page that said the forum was unavailable because it was updating the database, or something like that. That was in the evening. When I got the same thing the next morning, I knew there was something wrong - it just doesn't take that long to back up or update the forum database.

Otherwise, we haven't been encountering any problems.

Just a note, the web server rotates server logs in the early morning hours (EST) so that may slow the page loads from time to time. This may effect members in Europe who visit during that time frame.

Log rotation should not affect server performance, unless the server is a very low spec box and possibly running from a home on limited bandwidth. One thing that is important with a forum running vBulletin software is the MySQL configuration file (my.cnf). Many servers run a basic config file and this can affect the performance of a forum.

I have found the forum slow every time I visit.
