Howdy Duke lovers!I was just wondering how many non Duke films that we can come up with that mention the Duke,beit while he was still with us,or since.I know that Duke was mentioned in Midnight Cowboy,and Duke even watched this film because he mentioned in an interview that Dustin Hoffman had the showier part.Both Hoffman and Voight were up against Duke that year at the Awards.I just finished watching on DVD the Steven King story entitled Dreamcatcher and Duke is incorperated into King's diabolocal plot.Morgan Freeman plays a psychotic Army Colonel and states that his pistol had been given to him by John Wayne.Since this is a 2,003 film and Freeman has had his job in the service 25 years that means Duke would have given it to him in 1978.This pistol that belonged to Duke falls into dangerous times,but the ingenius mind of Steven King uses Duke's gun to fight the forces of evil near the end,and justice prevails.Can anyone else think of other examples like I just gave?
