What a pleasure to find this wonderful site. I hope I last long enough to see each section and wallow in all the offers. So much to see and so little time.

I don't mean I'm dying! I mean, there's so much of John Wayne, I'll need a long time to browse through it all.

My absolute respect to the members and the staff, and Kevin, too. We can't forget him. Thanks for all your hard work.

Pleased to meet you, Ka2mxh. I'm really not senior enough to welcome you to this shindig, but I live in Rochester so that sort of makes us neighbors according to Smitty's standards from "The Alamo".

We deal in lead, friend.

Hello Gorch, you don't need to be 'senior' to say hello. We're neighbors. That's plenty.

Hey, ka2mxh,

WELCOME to the Original John Wayne Message Board, one of the friendliest, most active forums dedicated to Duke that you are likely to find anywhere! As you can see from just the few that have welcomed you so far, our membership comes from all around the world, and as close as some miles away in the same state!

Grab a cup of coffee (or iced tea!), put up your feet, and set a spell and enjoy all the wonderful information available. You're right, it will take awhile (and SO glad to learn you are not dying - you had me worried there for a minute!).

We look forward to getting to know you better in the days and weeks to come!

Mrs. C :angel1: (Chester :newyear: is working today, but I know he would extend a warm welcome to you as well!)

I'm really not senior enough to welcome you to this shindig . . .
Gorch,

I would say that any member who has contributed regularly for nearly two years is certainly 'senior' enough to welcome anybody to this shindig! And as ka2mxh so rightly states, you don't even need to be senior to say "Howdy!"

Thanks for being a part of our friendly group here at the JWMB!

Hello Smokey, I'm definitely a 'bloke'. An old bloke, too, 69 in December. Not too old, and certainly not young, but just right for my age. hehe

Thank you, ethanedwards. I don't know what I can contribute to this fine group. I have strolled through many of the sections and anything here is everything I have, and then some. As a matter of fact, I've found more of my hero here that I could wish for. Perhaps someone will ask me to do some special thing, like sweeping, cutting the grass, etc. But I'm sure in time, I'll find something. Thanks to all.

Thank you, JJ. I last was in San Antonio in March 1960 at the Lackland USAF Basic Training Base. Then to Sheppard AFB in Wichita Falls for Aircraft Mechanic Training. From there I was sent to Schilling AFB in Salina Kansas at the USAF SAC base there. The world I knew and grew up in was a far different world than it is today.

My first trip away from home on my own, like so many others. It was a great experience. Too bad they stopped the Draft.
