Hi i'm having trouble thinking of the Duke's 3rd stunt man.
I know there was Yakima Kanutt ,George Montgomery but the third can't remember his name.

You might be talking about Chuck Roberson who was Wayne's stunt double for nearly thirty years. He died on June 8, 1988 of cancer. He started in "The Wake of the Red Witch" in 1948.

Chuck Roberson I'm not sure I know the guy by site did he play the Sheriff in Mclintock?
If so then it was him. <_<

In "McLintock!", Chuck Roberson did indeed play the part of Sheriff Jeff Lord.

Another Duke stuntman that was not used quite as much was Ben Johnson. He was a superb horseman and worked closely with Canut.

"Good" Chuck and "Bad" Chuck, as they were named by John Ford himself: Chuck Roberson and Chuck Hayward were regulars, but he was doubled a number of times by others, like Bob Morgan (he doubled him in the fight scene on the street in The Alamo and he was the Mexican who lanced him at the end - both in the same movie, cute!)

:cowboy: I had no idea that George Montgomery did stunts for JW? Thanks for the new wrinkle in my brain. Best--TRK.

hey everyone, I'm new to this forum. But I joined to tell you that there is a man who lives in my town of Bellaire Michigan named Johnny Thunder who I know for a fact was a stunt double for John Wayne. He has countless photos with the man and documents to prove it.

totally_gnarly,

Welcome to the John Wayne Message Board!

Are you personally acquainted with Johnny Thunder? Is that his "real" name or stage name? Perhaps you could introduce him to our message board. I bet he would have tons of stories to share.

It would be great to hear from Johnny Thunder-I wonder what films he worked on with Duke? Any further word on him?

Most of you know these guys also doubled Duke at one time or another-Fred Graham, Ed Parker, Ted White, Jim Burke, Jock Mahoney, and Terry Wilson.
