Hi All!
I don't see a thread on this one, so i'll take a shot at it! I'm one of those Duke fans that believes the Duke made a lot of great movies that were not necessarily a western or a war movie. So i ask, What is your favorite John Wayne movie that was NOT a western, and NOT a war movie? For me the winner is: ISLAND IN THE SKY.

My vote would go to The Shepherd of the Hills. I really enjoy the Ozark superstitions, and the way the film has it's light moments as well as the dark ones.

I confess I do not know a lot of movies of Duke, but I love "The Quiet Man"

Actually, this is a tough question, at least for me. I think I would have to have it broke down into even smaller sub categories, but as the question stands, I would have to say The Quiet Man. Or maybe McQ. Maybe even The High and The Mighty. Or maybe...

My favorite that's NOT a Western or war movie is "Barbarian and the Geisha".

The more i watch The Barbarian and The Geisha , the more i like it too! WHERE"S THAT DVD ???

I enjoyed all of Duke's movies of course!!!
But one's that stand out for me are,

Three Faces West
Pittsburgh,
The Shepherd of the Hills.
The Quiet Man
Island in the Sky

The Shepherd of the Hills,
it was a real mysterious film

I don't know why Shepherd of the Hills isn't more widely known. I thought it was an exceptional film and exceptionally well made.
