My husband is a big John Wayne fan. He just mentioned that several years ago a Boy Scout Camp was named or dedicated to John Wayne. According to my husband John Wayne made a speech at the dedication where he gave the Boy Scout Promise in "John Wayne terms". My husband is very active in Boy Scouts and I would love to locate a written or video of the dedication. I am especially interested in John Wayne's version of the Boy Scout Promise. Can anyone direct me in the right direction?

Thanks for asking that question. I am not only a big fan of the Duke, but also an ardent supporter of the Boy Scouts, so am happy to discover that link between the two.

We were at a Boy Scout function today, and one of the books available for sale was one aimed at helping a Scout plan his Eagle Court of Honor. There were several different ways of highlighting the Scout Law, and one of them was John Wayne's Scout Law!

When you read each point of the law, can't you just hear Duke saying those things?

Makes me happy - a Boy Scout/John Wayne connection!!

Maybe someday we'll make it down to visit the John Wayne Outpost Camp.
