John Wayne does the classics. Here is a great film for all to see. Flying Leathernecks is one for all collectors. Co-starring is Robery Ryan in a classic WWII movie. Released date for the Region 1 movie is 4 May, 2004.

Go to Flying Leathernecks (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B0001FVE4U/ref=ase_dvdtalk/002-3006648-6774415?v=glance&s=dvd).

I never really liked this movie for some reason perhaps the version I taped of the TV was of a poor quality. Does anyone know if the lines that were visible during the air battle scenes have been corrected via DVD transfer?

Hi Smokey

Thanks for that information. I think the lines in the action scenes on the version I have were from actual war footage so it is great to find out that this has been corrected. Regarding actual war footage being blended into John Waynes movies does the DVD transfer make the actual war footage less obvious as it is very obvious on vcr versions.

hi robbie,

you can still tell that they are war film because of the speed that they show at though they have tended to blend them in a little better on dvd then they were able to do on video. but on the whole it is still a great movie to watch.

Very hard to have avaition shots on film. Even today it's impossible to shoot these action films in the sky. Case in point, in the movie Pearl Harbor, they used computer animation for the action shots. A very big feat if you ask me.

So not disappointed with Flying Leathernecks and the action shots they made.

I think one of the best is "Battle of Britain". There are some fantastic aerial combat scenes in that movie.

your right on that but i have to prize it from my nephews dieing hand before he will let that movie go it was my dads but he lost it to a 12 yr old.

to be honest i think it could have been the cameras that they used that may have made the difference in the aerial shots, also the british had, had more practice at taking aerial shots well thats my idea

I must confess to not having this movie on video/DVD and I have not seen it in a number of years. However on that John Wayne documentary the other night is showed an action clip from flying Lethernecks and it looked a lot better than I previously remembered it the picture texture seemed to correlate well and the picture was quite clear and the DVD version will be even better. Maybe this movie is not as bad as I thought I'll give it another chance in a few years time.

I just received my DVD of Flying Leathernecks this afternoon. Got to it and seen a little of the movie. It of course looks great and shows Duke at his best. This movie has a Theatrical Trailer, scene selection and language of subtitles of English, French, Spanish. The audio is only english. The Aspect Ratio is 1.37:1. This is in color Not much to talk about, but a good movie for the war classic buff and Duke fan. A must for the collection. ;)

Sorry Robbie, there are no deleted scenes, or director's cut either.
