Howdy, y'all!

If you've been wondering why we took so long to post this, it is because we like to do the "landmark" posts together. We do some posts on our own, many together, but ALWAYS the landmark posts together :D ! It's been a few days of trying to find a time when we could both be at the computer at the same time, and now it's here.

It's been about 15 months since I registered as a member of this message board. As you can tell, we sure haven't gotten tired of the place. It's real special to us, as are many of you fellow John Wayne fans. As Hondo has said several times, a year ago, we didn't know any of you, and now we have friends all over the world.

The fact that we have this many posts is a testimony to the fact that there are plenty of you folks out there working your fingers to the bone on the keyboard, giving us something to which to respond. None of this would be possible without YOU! We would like to thank every last one of you who has posted on this board and helped to make this place a fun place to be :D !

And of course NONE of this would be possible, and NONE of us would be here without Kevin being instrumental in starting this board in the first place, and continually adding fun features to it, and guiding us along the way when we need it. THANKS, Kevin! ;)

Hello Everyone on the John Wayne Message Board. I am here posting my 1000th post and wanted to get this in so I can go on. This has been a great pleasure to be here, and I want to thank each and every one of you that have put me to the challenge, not only with the great questions and comments, but with the challenges that are here to keep the integrity of this board running.

I don't want to go into names because I know I will miss someone, and that is not my intentions. I will say thanks to only two people. I want to thank Kevin, who has given us a gift to be a part of his life and share on this board, and of course the one man who made this all possible, My 1000th post is dedicated to John Wayne and his many failures.

I'm finally here. It took a while, but here I am at 1300! Thank all of you for great support and friendships. I really appreciate all of you here. You've made this time here a fun one, and I look forward to meeting many of new ones. But to tell you the truth, I really like my old friends here now, like Chester (.... & the Mrs.), Kevin, Authur, itdo, smokey, sxviper, chilibill, stumpy, & robbie.

Well it looks like I've made it to the 1000th post club, about a year ago I made it to the 100 post club and that seemed like it was about it for me so I am very happy to still be around here at 1000 posts.

A special thanks to Kevin for his excellent running of this board and continuing modernising.

I'm glad that many of the old guard whom were here when I joined are still going strong such as Chester, Mike aka Hondo, Smokey, Chance and of course Kevin.

Itdo and his posts are as helpful and informative as ever and along with Arther will soon be at this milestone.

There is still a good influx of new members and Ringo the latest additon to the squad is going very well.

A special thanks to Popol and Sxviper for all their help regarding computer problems.

I look forward to many more discussions in the future with you all

Well, what do you know? We made it to another milestone!

We're coming up on our second anniversary here on the message board, and I must say, it's been a great time, and we've really enjoyed meeting all of you "wayne-derful" folks (thanks to pegwil for that little phrase :rolleyes: ). We just came through a great holiday season and look forward to a good year, both in "real" life and "cyber" life.

Working together here at the message board has been a "bonding" experience for me and the Mrs. - it's something we really enjoy doing together, and can do often, in the comfort of our own home, any time of the day or night :D .

Long ago, when we were all tossing around ideas for naming the ranking levels for members, 1500 posts seemed forever away, and without hardly trying, here we are! If the most recent suggestion is taken up, we would be the first to reach the El Dorado rank . . . hm-m-m, where's the gold :blink: ?

Having gotten to know all of you and continue on in enjoying the Duke together - that's worth more than gold!

What can I say? Make 'em count! I try to only make a post when I have something to say which could be useful to others or something important to ask and try not to write annoying posts, that's why I leave the welcoming of new members, the pointing out of other posts to help them as well as the congratulations to the cheerful "stuff" of moderators - and still, there's 1000 posts already. Not a bad way to spend a couple minutes every day, in't it?

Chester, I hope I don't come across as some rich bastard, buying all these books - because I really am not, quite the contrary (I just spend every nickel on Wayne, that's all). But ask yourself, when you hold a book in one hand and a DVD in the other - which one do you buy? Because they're about the same price, you see. Me, I rather buy the book. There's a lot of questions on the board, I sometimes feel, if you'd pick up just one book about Ford, for instance, or Hawks, for that matter, there's a lot of questions about him, too, you'd get a lot of answers out of it. So if you really want the answers, the full answers, not just a small reply on the internet, there's no way around self-education. Get out and buy a book! :ph34r:

NOT at all! With my life as full as it is right now, I would never have the time to read all those books. I can relax with a DVD, and they take up less space in my already very full house. And if I need to know something, at least I can learn a little here (and possibly even be inspired to buy a book or two that really piques my interest).

In the past it's always been "those %#@+ rich Americans." Now it's turned around the other way. Not to imply that you (or any of our other European cousins) are %#@+ anything or in any way responsible for the sad state of the American dollar - we Americans will have to take credit for that ourselves. :headbonk:

I am marking this occasion with reflections of many who have been here and we haven't seen in a long time. Too many to mention, but sure do miss them a lot. But I also want to mark this with my gratitude toward those who are here now and the great posts here at the message board. Too many to mention as well.

It took a while, but I made it. Glad to see that I am in the same ball park as Chester and the Mrs.

It was a fun trip to get here, but I finally make it. I wanted to do it on Smokey's b'day, but I had to settle on doing it on the day after or two days after in Smokey's case.

Thanks to everyone here for making this place a fun place to come to everyday, and enjoy such great comments, questions, and challenges. Yes, I even enjoy the challenges from Robbie. <_<

You've been a blast, and I look forward to more great times here. I said it lots of times but Kevin you hit a grand slam and I appreciate it very much, as many here do also. :wub:

They said they were very dissapointed about the shuttles not going up on schedule as a large crowd had showed up to see the take off, Im glad someone has brains there enough to have shut it down.

It probably did save lives.

sorry to hear about the shuttle but i thought that you would like to know that amberely (RAAF) air base here in queensland has been put on standby when it does take off for emergy landing strip it is the only place in australia that has an air strip which is able to take the weight of the shuttle and guess what its only a 30 min drive from where i live taking the back roads wouldnt it be grand if this happened would make us famous :D

I've never understood all the cheerleading over the number of posts our participants make. Are we in some kind of a contest of which I'm unaware?

In answer to your question, there is no contest (unless I am also unaware of it :rolleyes: ), it's just "for fun" and some people feel it adds to the enthusiasm of the message board. I originally started it, because it was exciting at the time that someone had actually gotten a hundred posts. I enjoy congratulating others as they reach different milestones, and many enjoy doing it back. I'm glad to see that you've taken the first step towards posting in one of the milestone threads :D .
