The Rio Grande Trivia Contest is still going on but not for long. The
contest ends at midnight Pacific Time March 31, 2004. The winner of
this contest will be awarded a new, sealed DVD of Rio Grande - The
Collectors Edition. You can check out the information concerning this
DVD release at
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B00...JMRF/nevadanewt (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B00006JMRF/nevadanewt) .

The winner will be announced on April 1, 2004. This gives everyone
plenty of time to enter if you hurry. The winner will be determined
by a blind drawing if there is a tie for the most correct answers.

There is no limit to the number of entries that may be submitted. All
entrants to the contest will receive a FREE Rio Grande screensaver.

To enter the contest go to http://www.jwaynefan.com/rgquiz.html . As
an added bonus I will also be adding another blind drawing from ALL
ENTRANTS for a new, sealed, DVD copy of Rio Grande. This is not the
collectors edition but the one that was issued earlier.

I hope that all the members of The John Wayne Message Board will come by and give it a try.

Paul,

Hey, thanks for letting us know about the contest. It gave us a good excuse to watch Rio Grande!

BTW, I am in the far northern CA region a few times a year, and would love a chance to meet you the next time I come through.

I took a chance and answered the questions from memory. I will go back and see the picture as to how I did on this quiz. I appreciate you getting us to this and I hope others will go and try their knowledge on this great John Ford movie with John Wayne & Maureen O'Hara in their first appearance together.

What a pair or trio to work together!

Cheers, Hondo B)

I just love Rio Grande. I don't tire of watching it. Its just a great blend of action, drama, and humor as only John Ford could blend together.

Harold ; You are right about the film Rio Grande I got my copy about month ago and it has other great stuff on the D.V.D. I like the Over- Voice on the one clip by Maureen O'Hara it tells allot about the making of the Film, "The Duke, John Ford and Her Self." If you want to see more on were they made the film in Moab, Utah go to RIO GRANDE (http://www.wyntoontrip.com/DUKE13D.html) Chilibill :cowboy:

Is this DVD the original B/W version, or the colorized version?

G.S.P. ; The one that I have is B.and W. but I wish it was in color, that part of the country is so Beautiful. I was there about one month ago for some pictures from the aircraft and its still the same as it was years ago. Maureen tells why it it was done in B.and W. to raze money to do "The Quiet Man" Some of the pictures are on the web-site above. Chilibill :cowboy:

That movie was originally done in Black & White. There is no release that is colorized. It was very expensive to do a color movie. Most were in B&W. I can understand wanting it in color, but there is a lot to say about the classics in glorious B&W.

Actually...I have seen a colorized VHS version of Rio Grande available before...I was just wondering if they used it as the basis of the DVD release.

Thanks,
