This is the Michael Parkinson and John Wayne intereview back in 1974. The discussion was on the High Noon movie and what Duke thought about that movie and his reasons for his comments.

- John Wayne quote"When you come slam bang up against trouble, it never looks half as bad if you face up to it"
Interesting interview, though, I couldn't help think what Duke may have been thinking, "Hmmm, I'll feign with my left, then give him the right"

Hi
Interesting seeing it again after all these years many points to take in. It is a fact that Parkinson interviewed all of the greats but this interview is never included in compilations.
Rio Bravo was made as a direct answer to High Noon in that the sheriff doesn't ask for help from the townspeople relying on his deputies Stumpy, Colarado who is given to him by Pat, and Dude.
Barry Norman an English film critic met Wayne twice thoroughly hated him and stated that on the second occasion he felt that Wayne would in fact hit him.

It seemed like a fairly tense interview, however I'd love to see it in its entirety.
