One day Duke started pushing him around, grabbing him, showing him how to play the scene. Cinematographers, were responsible for putting the magic
onto the silver screen, and without them, the spectacle would never be!

Four such men,
William H. Clothier,Archie Stout, Winton Hoch and Bert Glennon
were without doubt very special to Duke and his movies.
I will profile Archie Stout and Winton Hoch later!
Clothier and Hoch, more or less took over the mantle,
from Stout for the years after!

William H. Clothier was involved with Duke, in various capacities,

Clothier as you can see from his filmography was involved,
in many other well known movies, with John Ford and James Stewart.

When making The Alamo
Duke pacified John Ford by giving him some Second Unit work.
However, very little of Ford's work ended up in the movie.

Clothier remarked later:-

I don't think we used three cuts that the Old Man did...
I would estimate it cost Duke over $250,000
to give Ford a Second Unit!

William H.Clothier along with a selected trusted few,
was to spend most of his career working with Duke.
