Just had to after Ringo Kid reminded me!
As good as I remember, great, tight Western.

Agreed; they are on par with those you mentioned, especially the Mann/Stewart collaborations which were gritty, taught stories also.
Interesting how both Randolph Scott and James Stewart both really hit their stride in Westerns later on in their careers. They had both done films in the genre before but when each teamed up with their respective directors it all seemed to click into place.
I would have to tag Ride Lonesome on the end, even if it was Peckinpah, with the Boetticher westerns as, somehow for me, they all work as a 'set'.

Yep, that's the one! Only watched it again a week or so ago but still got them mixed up, lol!
I have to agree, I think Ride the high country it's Scott's best western.
Ride Lonesome is close behind and in my top 5 Scott westerns, it's a fantastic film and contributed to why I got confused, that and the fact it's almost 2am in the UK and my brain is fried!![]()

Totnes- the Tombstone of England
Just watched The Hangman with Robert Taylor, who I've never rated, and a blond Jack Lord! Far better than I was expecting and a good transfer by Olive Films to Blu ray.
So far the Olive Films releases I've watched have been excellent, if somewhat light on the extras front, I have Johnny Guitar and High Noon on blu ray next on the list to watch. It bodes well from the upcoming Republic Duke rarities they are planning to release. Bring them on!!

Lone Rider. I really like Lou Diamond Phillips, but this one was a predictable slog to get through. Even Stacy Keach was dull and boring.
If you like Westerns from the Fifties and early Sixties with the same old plots, search out this one from 2008 and see it. There's nothing different in it. It's probably a remake of something or other. The costumes are good and the scenery's nice, as is the photography.
Or not.

Watched Johnny Guitar the olive films blu ray.
Unbelievably I had never seen this film.
What a treat!!
It's an absolutely fantastic western, if somewhat off beat.
The blu ray is stunning and the colours are incredibly vibrant.
I cannot recommend it enough.
