Not sure if it fits into the western genre or not. But I watched "Paint Your Wagon" last night on TCM.
Been watching The Rifleman series that just started on Encore Western channel.

They'd never forget the day,the stranger rode into town
Just bought a two dvd set from Walmart of four westerns. One is called: Massacre At Fort Holman? which has James Coburn and Telly Savalas in it. Sorry to say, these two great actors could not "pull it off" and save the film. I did not bother to watch the 2nd movie on that disc, but I am now trying to get through whateverthetitleis? on the 2nd disc. It IS THAT bad. This disc also has: "My Name IS Nobody" w/ Henry Fonda and Terence Hill. At least THAT one is a good film. However, the video quality is VERI schlecht = VERY bad. But I guess that is to be expected when you buy four movies for $5.50.
BTW, i'm giving these away if anybody wants them?

Bandolero with Jimmy Stewart , Dean Martin , George Kennedy Raquel Welch with Andrew V Mc Laglen directing. Good westerner let down with a bit of a downbeat ending
I did it again. I watched a movie you guys probably hate. Young Guns 2.......
A guilty pleasure indeed.
We rented from the local video store a DVD with three episodes of the old (1955) TV series Cheyenne, with Clint Walker. His side-kick, Smitty, was played by L.Q. Jones. The series was actually very well done. I remember it from when I was a kid, and I had the pleasure three years ago of meeting Clint Walker at the John Wayne Celebrity Rodeo in Abilene, Texas. And yes, he is just as tall as he looks in the show.
The Mrs., Christopher, and I enjoyed the two episodes we watched, and we look forward to the third one, and hopefully other DVDs to be rented.

High Todd
You guess right I hate both Young guns one and two and indeed most modern westerns with the exception of 'Unforgiven' and possibly 'Open Range' (despite its many flaws).

"Westworld"
A great early '70's sci-fi western. Richard Benjamin and James Brolin as tourists at a futuristic amusement park where you get to play cowboys and fight robot outlaws. Everything is great until the robots start acting out there roles for real.
Yul Brynner (in Magnicent Seven costume) costars as a android gunslinger
