I liked Costner in "Tin Cup" too. Bit of light fluff, but enjoyable, I thought.
De gustibus non est disputandum
He was pretty good in Bull Durham. At the time.....Susan Sarandon.......hubba hubba!!!!!
Nuff said!

"Dodge City," with Errol Flynn. Made about the same time as "The Adventures of Robin Hood." Flynn's co-star in both was the lovely Olivia de Havilland. BTW - the barroom brawl looks like it has elements of John Wayne's and Yakima Canutt's groundbreaking work in this area.

I watched "The Man From Colorado" today. Starring Glenn Ford and William Holden. I didn't know anything about this movie before I watched it, but I have to say this was a big surprise. A reallly good movie where Glenn Ford plays this really despicable character who is appointed judge after fighting in the civil war. He appoints his army pal played by Holden as marshal, but due to Fords crazy power mad behaviour it turns into a fight between them (and the entire town). If you haven't seen this one I highly reccomend it.

"A Fistful OF Dollars"
A classic Eastwood western
"Alias Jesse James"
silly (but fun) Bob Hope western comedy
They'd never forget the day,the stranger rode into town
I didn't see any movies today but I did see two great history specials about the old west:
"Billy The Kid: Unmasked"
and
"Jesse James: Legend, Outlaw, Terrorist"
both were on The Discovery Channel
and were very very interesting
They'd never forget the day,the stranger rode into town
Kinda in a B western mood tonight so I broke out one of my DVD's that has a lot of his B movies and The Lawless Frontier is playing right now.
The Way West"
-Kirk Douglas, Robert Mitchum, Richard Widmark, Sally Field (her movie debut)
Wagon train drama about settlers heading out of Missouri and heading to Oregon and finding drama, adventure and romance along the way.
Not much action but well acted and a good solid story.

Here's a new one ot look forward to. From IMDB
Julianne Moore and Tom Hanks are going back in time as the unlikely stars of a new Barry Levinson western. The pair will star in new movie Boone's Lick, which is adapted from a book written by Brokeback Mountain screenwriter Larry McMurtry. In the new period film, Moore will portray a pioneer woman who falls in love with her brother-in-law, played by Hanks, during a cross-country trip from Missouri to a fort in Wyoming to rejoin her husband, according to FilmStew.com. Shooting on Boone's Lick is scheduled to begin later this year. Levinson has replaced Lasse Halstrom as the director of the film.
Seraphim Falls with Liam Neeson and Pierce Brosnon is out on DVD May 15. The film got decent reviews but was dumped by the studio and only was released in a few cities.
Hi may2, thanks for the info on a new western from Hollywierd.
I have heard of Seraphim Falls and that it had good reviews. It just never was released in my area. I will definetly be checking it out at the video store though.
On a side note, I picked up a movie from the video store last weekend nad forgot to tell you guys about it. It was called "The Proposition" with Guy Pearce. It was a very bloody and dark film about life in the outback of Australia. Not all the good either, I would not recommend it.
What is it with McMurtry that he can't seem to represent normal, healthy relationships?!
Just think about it for a minute. There is not a single adult relationship in either this new film or the other thing, which name I'll not even mention, that isn't whacked.
