This is for all those who were killed on Sun Dec 7th 1941. Sadly I have heard not one thing in either the TV, radio or printed news media about this 65th anniversary of the japanese attack on Pearl Harbor. This also includes the men at Wake Island as well.

May all those who were killed or later died of wounds-Rest In Peace.

Rush Limbaugh talked about Dec 7 on both his morning update and his national radio show.

" Let's Remember Pearl Harbor as we go to met the FOE
Let's Remember Pearl Harbor like you did the ALAMO!
We will always Remember how they died for LIBERTY,
Let's Remember Pearl Harbor and March on to VICTORY!!!"

    Hi Carl,
I cannot believe, that this day has not been mentioned,
    it seems incredible!!
As a twice visitor to Pearl and the Arizona Memorial,
I have a great interest in this attack and the memory of the people
    sadly lossed on this day.
I will remember this day, with the same sadness i felt
when my family and I visited the Memorial,

May they all rest in peace!
The local paper had two items on Pearl Harbor this morning. Not much of a rememberance for such an important historical event. <_< I feel we are doomed not to learn from history and it is going to come back and bite us!!

I was going to make a thread about this, alas it was done before I got here. Hard to believe this event took place 64 years ago today, the first wave (of 3) leaving the carrier around 5am. And the rest is history.

Truly a sleeping giant was awoken that day, the japanese made such a critical mistake.

To all of you, who payed the supreme sacrifice, Rest In Peace.

I concur on all the above sentiments.

If any of you have never been to the memorial by the USS Arizona. Try to get there, its really something to see.

The sad part is that more and more people who survived the attack at Pearl Harbor are fewer and fewer. Just ten years ago, I knew dozens of people who were there and talked about it. Today, most of them are no longer with us.

What I heard is, "We remember about Pearl Harbor, but we seem to forget September 11th." And our great media are trying to forget Pearl Harbor as well.

My local newspaper did run the headlines of the attack, and they talked to a couple of survivals of that day. It's sad that they are so old, and the ones I know are too.

    Let's not forget Pearl Harbor.

It's funny. The ones who attacked Pearl Harbor are now our friends. Wouldn't it be funny if someday those involved in the September 11th attack will be our friends? : I'm not sure that will happen. Thanks to those who stood by our country when we needed it. I just hope they will be doing it today.

    Cheers B)

As an old Navy guy, I find the attack on Pearl Harbor to be one of the saddest events in our country's history. When you realize how much western civilization, and our country in particular, have bettered mankind's existence on this chunk of rock, it makes you wonder in bewilderment why people would try to "kill the golden goose" as it were. Envy or desire for power are reasons that contributed, I think. In any case, it is a sad blot in world history.

But life goes on, and we should focus on the positive.

    May them rest in peace.
It is sad thing that something importaint in history are more and more forgotten. Our country suffered too during WWII and after victory at Germany, participate in the battles against Japan. But it is not much people leftnow who were there. most of them passed away already.

    hi all

it is sad that this day isnt held up like it should we still remember all of those who fought along the kakoda track and each year there is some group who will walk along this track in the foot steps of those brave men and visit the most important sites. we all have to remember that they gave their lives either willingly or not for the lives we now have the fortune to live.

senta the fact that some of your brave young men fought against the japs is not widly know so thank you for letting us know this important fact may they also never be forgotten.

I can remember Dec. 7th. 1941 like it was Yesterday! I was at Old Fox Theater in Phoenix with Grandmother watching a John Wayne Film, I was 10 Years old. They stoped the Film and a man came on stage and told us about the Attack.

This was long before T.V. and we had to wait weeks before we could see it on the News Reels at Movies. All we had in those days was the Radio but everyone was Glued to it.

Every time I go to Hawaii I still go to the Arizona Memorial. May all the Millions that Died in that War, may God have them "All Rest in Peace." :(

Just a little side note to all of this talk about Pearl Harbor, my grandmother passed away a few months ago, and although she tried hard, she never did fully forgive the Japanese for that day. Her brother Tedd Furr, my great uncle, died that day aboard the U.S.S. Oklahoma. He was a Chief Petty Officer, and was on duty aboard ship that morning. I didn't find this out until after I enlisted in the Navy, and it made me kinda proud that I was following in his footsteps. My grandmother told me that about a month before the attack, her brother visited her and my grandfather in Los Angeles, and during dinner that day, he madew the comment, "you know, we've been sending them [the Japanese] a lot of scrap [metal] recently. I believe those little brown guys are going to start sending some back at us real soon." I often wonder about that statement, and how much intelligence we had regarding an imminent attack. Oh well, something to ponder.

    Hi Smokey,
Russia joined the war against Japan after the victory at Germany. The Russian army operated at the continent against Kwantun Army. The operation was successful. Some of my relatives take part in it, so I knew about it not only from the books.

    Talking

I saw a piece on the news yesterday about how they finally found the small sub that was allegedly sunk outside the harbor about an hour befor the attack. It is still laying on the bottom (they showed a quick picture of it). They finally recognized the men who were aboard the ship that sunk it as the first ones to fire a shot in our entry into WWII. Five men who were aboard were there to join in on the ceremonies planned. They felt vindicated for they had no proof untill now that there really was a sub they fired on. December 7th is a day that I doubt few even today don't know what happened that fatefull day. It was a sad, shocking day.

    Hi Mark,
    Thanks for posting that.
Strangely I re-watched the National Geographic,
documentary, about trying to find that sub.
I think it was called LEGACY OF ATTACK
and it was by Hank Ballard,(think that's his name?) the guy of finding Titanic fame!!
They spent weeks, looking for it but to no avail,
it would be interesting to know how and where they found it?
I am glad the ships company of the USS WARD are now being recognised,
