One of my least favorite John Wayne films, but still head and shoulders above anything today. My favorite scene is the one where he's teaching the boy how to swim, Page's reaction was priceless.
Despite Geraldine Page . I have grown to love Hondo with every viewing. It is great movie to watch and because it was originally shot in 3D it has a short running time which makes it seem like there is action all the way through the movie.
Region 1 Print is magic too!

Check out this clip from YouTube. It claims to be a clip of 3D footage from Hondo.
"I am not intoxicated - yet." McLintock!
I only you-tubed once and that was to watch the final episode of Justice League Unlimited and a special tribute video. It loads up way too slow on my crappy dial-up.
Wow, where's my 3-D glasses...

Hi
This film was released on DVD in the UK on Monday. along with The High and the Mighty and Island in the Sky. I picked it up for £10 as I was collecting the other two. Comes complete with a poster for the film but at first glance it looks foreign.

Arthur
Walk Tall - Talk Low
Hi Arthur
Shame we had to wait so long as most have now bought on Region 1.
Wonder will play.com undercut HMV?

Not one of Duke's best westerns. The first half is better, nice scenes between Wayne and Ward Bond, and the best in the whole movie is when Duke throws the boy into water. I also like the dog. Geraldine Page irritates me and her relationship with Duke's character is unexciting. Hondo should remain an angry, but capable outsider, that would make the movie much more interesting
Hi etsija
I think Hondo suffered a bit by being made in 3D. I do still find it an enjoyable western to watch.
I agree with your comments on Geraldine Page. Apparently, she stank of BO and had the breath of a sewer and the film company had to spend a fortune on sending her to a dentist to fix her teeth. Makes you appreciate what a professional Duke was and how he kept his face straight when he says the line about being able "to smell her" is beyond me.
