    Hi Fans,

I just found this Forum while surfing... It's great!

As for me, I'm a filmmaker & writer and also run a big archive I started 30 years ago.
I collect Wayne since then. Also plan to do a photo-book, mostly candid stuff on him next year.

NOW the following: I'm desperately looking for four documentaries. If not here, where can I find someone who could help? I do have A LOT of stuff on him for trading. Rare footage as well as stills & posters here and there.

    Can anybody provide me with
    PLIMPTON-SHOOTOUT AT RIO LOBO
BIG GAME HUNTING WITHOUT GUNS (the HATARI! featurette)
    SPIRIT OF THE ALAMO
and the RIO BRAVO color footage behind the scenes ?

Like I said, I have stuff for swaping you, 'would als pay of course...

    Favorite Duke Film:
    RIO BRAVO

    bye fellas

Howdy Mike, and welcome to the forum. I am sure you will find folks here who can help you. I do have "Shootout at Rio Lobo" and "Pontiac Star Parade: Spirit of the Alamo", as well as a large number of other John Wayne documentaries, behind the scenes, and some rare candid footage.

I guess my question is, other than what you've posted, what are you looking for, and what have you got to trade?

I look forward to hearing from you soon,
    Best,
    Colorado Bob

    Hi Bob,

great to hear from you. I see you're exactly 20 years and 4 days older than I am :)

As for 'footage', I'll copy a list here. There will be much to discuss, as a lot of it is in German and sometimes was even produced by German TV. For ex. 'JOHNNY, WEIL DU GEBURTSTAG HAST' (reference to a Dietrich-Song) is a jewel. For anybody who never heard of it... The German TV pays a visit to Wayne in 1977. You see him at his ranch, Hawks shows up, Bogdanovich tells stories, Don Siegel says why he'd never do another film with Wayne... There's even stuff they never cut in for the '77 TV-screenings, outtakes where Wayne gets angry because the TV cameraman won't catch the landscapes beauty but stays on Duke.. GREAT SHOW (German voice over, but most of the time you can hear the O-sound anyway I guess).

The quality of some of the rare stuff isn't good (Barbara Walters ..)

    Howdy RobHightower474,
And welcome to the board. I have quite a bit of John Wayne audio and video. I am currently in the process of transferring my VHS to DVD in the hopes of possibly having it last longer. Unfortunately, while doing this, I have discovered that a couple of my VHS tapes have degraded to the point that I cannot transfer them to DVD. I do still have quite a bit though, and would be interested in corresponding with you more about the possiblity of doing some trading. If you are interested, send me a PM, and we can talk.
    Best,
    Colorado Bob

    Hi fellow Duke fans,

I'm still looking for those docs mentioned above. ANYBODY?
I just transferred a couple of rare shows on DVD NTSC, so we could
trade. I don't necessarily need those docs on DVD, VHS-copies are fine too...

It's so though to get these titles in Europe. Wanted to see them for over
    20 years now...

    Re: Rare Duke Documentaries

Has anybody--ANYBODY--out there in Dukeland got anything of the following:

A 1978 special "General Electric's All Star Anniversary", the Duke second appearance on television following his heart valve operation (his first was a live cross to him at the Boston hospital for "Happy Birthday Bob", the tv special for Bob Hope's 75th birthday) That GE special certainly is one-of-a-kind with an unbelievable cast.

A half hour news special/tribute to John Wayne aired June 11 1979 on ABC called "Homage For The Duke" hosted by Barbara Walters with scenes from his last interview.

I am in Australia but can play all systems--I have been searching for these for most of my life (literally!) as I saw them as a kid -- if anyone could help, would be greatly appreciated!
