A corporate sponsor should get nothing more than a name on a plaque inside the building. Maybe a small spot in a museum booklet. I can't believe more people are not jumping on this. I may have to write one of my eye opening newspaper editorials for the local papers. It's a shame this isn't half way yet. Our generation and the generation before mine are all going to be gone in a couple decades. I wonder what our median age is in this forum?

Re: The 'New' John Wayne Birthplace and Learning Center

    Hello Wayne,

Thank you for the great information...I'm so excited! I just received my birthplace society membership packet...!!!!!

I love everything, but, my favorite part of it is the poem, John Wayne-American. It brought tears to my eyes and chills all over me....Michael Bright is a genuis with his words in this poem and I should know, I'm a writer and poet. I could not imagine that any other writer could have done better than Mr. Bright.

Because I have always felt Duke was a part of me, as he has owned such a huge part of my heart my entire life, I want to thank you, too, for your efforts on his behalf, and for all you do to share his legacy with the world.

    Cindy

Wouldn't John Wayne be so proud of this!!! He loved kids from all you read and are there going to be ways for "fans" to contribute to this, even if it is just a few dollars?

John Wayne has always given for the benefit for all to share and enjoy, and yes he would be proud of this accomplishment. It's good to be with a winner!

    Cheers

Re: The 'New' John Wayne Birthplace and Learning Center

The complete information for the Walk of Fame granite stones (one for each film Wayne starred in) and Tribute Bricks is now online at http://www.johnwaynebirthplace.org/walk.

The Centennial DVD is also now available, and there are two more DVDs in production, one for each of the Saturday and Sunday Cowboy Symposiums and they will be available soon.

The Centennial DVD includes the parade, the groundbreaking ceremony for the new Museum (with Ethan unveiling the statue of his father, and using a backhoe to make way for the New John Wayne museum, as well as Father Matt Munoz (Wayne's grandson) giving the blessing, and the crowd of over a thousand singing "Happy Birthday" to John Wayne); some words from Melinda Wayne Munoz, Wayne's daughter; Wayne’s granddaughter Jennifer singing her song “God Bless John Wayne” at the VIP event; exerpts from the Cowboy Symposiums with Wayne's co-stars Ed Faulkner, Gregg Palmer, Dean Smith and Paramount producer and long-time friend A.C. Lyles. And finally the magnificent John Wayne Birthday Wild West Revue, styled after Buffalo Bill's shows of yore, with daredevil professional stunt riders, trick ropers, a WWI-style cannon firing, an equestrian drill team with a bevy of beautiful gals, the thrilling attack on the Deadwood stagecoach and much more! If you were there, it's a great way to relive the event; if you couldn't make it, a wonderful way to experience the joy, the excitement, the laughs and the thrills of this spectacular once-in-a-lifetime event. An hour and 43 minutes of pure John Wayne entertainment!

P.S.: I'd be on here more often, but this site gives me a error which it never did before that says "You must have javascript enabled to view this site" in my Safari browser, even though Javascript *IS* enabled. Kevin said he was going to check with the forum developers, but that was over a month ago now and the problem remains.

Re: The 'New' John Wayne Birthplace and Learning Center

The John Wayne Birthday Centennial Cowboy Symposium DVDs are now available on the Birthplace of John Wayne web site http://www.johnwaynebirthplace.org/centennial_dvd.html. Those attending the 100th Birthday Celebration of John Wayne in his birthplace of Winterset, Iowa on May 26 and 27, 2007 had the opportunity to learn more about the Duke from those who knew and worked with him--including costumer to the stars Luster Bayless, Ed Faulkner, legendary Paramount producer A.C. Lyles, Gregg Palmer, and Dean Smith. Moderated by Boyd Magers, western author and publisher of Western Clippings. Here’s the complete Cowboy Symposium for each day, packed with plenty of great first-person stories and fascinating tales! Saturday's DVD is 1 hr. 31 min and includes a special appearance by Ethan Wayne; Sunday's DVD is 1 hr. 47 min. $20 each. Proceeds from the sales of these DVDs benefit the new John Wayne Birthplace Museum and Learning Center.
