Re: Cheer Up and Smile (1930)

Cheer Up and Smile is a 1930 American musical film directed by Sidney Lanfield.
The film starred Arthur Lake, Dixie Lee and Olga Baclanova
and a 23-year old John Wayne had a minor uncredited role.

Duke is credited as Duke Morrison.
and also note, his credits in Art Department

In this he shows good horsemanship,
surely a sign of things to come.
His style and approach were watched by Ford,
who knew there was more to come from this young man

The 23 year old John Wayne handles leadership well in this film.
There are moments where he proves that he can express deep feeling
to lift him above the status of a personality. He demonstrates good horsemanship too,
and hones his tools ready for subsequent productions.
