    Duke's favorite location

i already wrote this thread for Angel and the Badman.
but,it fits better for this place.so i wrote again.

I have a book "THE UNSUNG HEROES by Niel Summers".
in this book, page 119, There's an interesting description.

John Wayne rides hard on Banner, one of his favorite horses, for this stampede scene in Angel and the Badman co-starring Gail Russell.
This shot was taken in Sedona,Arizona which Wayne stated in a Life Magazine article
    was his favorite location.

What number of Life magazine? and besides Sedona, where his favorite location?

    regards

John Wayne Loved the Verde Valley and Sedona and came here many times, but He only made Two Films here.

I know a little about this place as I live on a small Ranch just 3 Miles South as the Bird Flys from Sedona and was lucky to be a Extra in the Film "The Angel and The Badman."

He also liked to Make Films in Monument Valley for John Ford and at His other Ranch in Mexico.

Below are two of my Sites with a little story and pictures of the Making of "The Angel and the Badman" and Good Pictures of Duke as a Young Man !

Thanks to your interesting information,Bill Of Pa and William T Brooks.
Sedona has a great scenery, but most frequently location place of Duke's movies
is Mexico and Monument valley, i learned.

and Third location, Old Tucson,Arizona is near Sedona? or near Monument valley?
How long it takes from Old Tucson to Sedona and Old tucson?

i wish someday, coming to these locations.

    H.sanada,

Tucson and Old Tucson are about a 2 and 1/2 Hour drive South of Sedona.

Monument Valley is about a 4 Hour Drive North of Sedona.

I put up some Maps of Arizona that will Show You a little more on where these Places Are Here in Arizona.

William T Brooks,Thanks for your kind information.

    Oh,
    How wide Arizona is !
Have no sense of direction,so I'm afraid when drive alone Arizona, lose my way.

It's probably good stay at Goulding's Lodge, see here and there and return.
    ofcourse with a good guide.
