    Dec 7th, 1941

    May we never forget!!!

My prayers go out to the families that lost loved ones on this day and the days that followed. The memory of your sacrifices will never be forgotten by this American!!

I've heard very little on this anniversary - one short mention on the news. How easily we forget!
This is one date that should never be forgotten!

You are right. I didn't hear but one small snippet about it on the radio.

I've heard nothing about it today.

I did, however, listen to my digital collection of WWII radio news broadcasts today. I listened to the procedings in congress just before FDR made his famous speech, then I listened to his speech.

God bless America and our troops.

What can we say that everyone else hasn't already said? A time in our history that should ALWAYS be remembered, and hopefully, through our diligence, will NEVER happen again!

Thanks, erthomp, for giving us an opportunity to keep the memory alive.

I found a couple of items in the newspaper once I got to it. But I still think this most important anniversary still got short thrift - no one seems to care a lot anymore (BTW - my father was in Guam and Burma during WWII in supply efforts, but talked very little about events).

    Cool Re: Dec 7th, 1941

I asked a few of my younger co-workers yesterday if they knew why Dec. 7th was an historic date, and they couldn't guess. One said "Um...the D-Day invasion. Well, at least he was in the right time frame.

It is sad that it is forgotten by the younger people (not that I am an old fart...well, not quite). I always know when it rolls around. To me, it was "A Day that will live in infamy.

    Re: Dec 7th, 1941

I will not forget Pearl Harbor Day. Like you guys, I heard nothing on the radio and nothing on the World News. However, I did hear at least 1 story on all three local TV stations.

They had a nice ceremony held at Sherrill Park here in Corpuc Christi. A memorial was dedicated to those lives lost on that day and had the names of all service personnel from Corpus; listed on the memorial. The ceremony had at least 12 surviving Pearl Harbor Veterans in attendance, a fly-over by several US Navy aircaft; and the loval Vets band playing music including Taps.

FYI: Sherrill Park is named after a Corpus Christi Sailor who was killed at Pearl Harbor. I can't remember if he was on the USS Arizona or not?

    Re: Dec 7th, 1941

i am sorry that i couldnt think of what this day was for you then it came to me, the reason that the younger generation doesnt remember is because it is not taught in your schools maybe, here in austraila they are taught about many different events of this war but we mainly focus on things that involved us aussies, we remember our ANZACS, the Rats of torbruk, and of cause the d-day invasion as well as the bombing of japan with the a-bomb. we also remember the fighting that took place on the kakoda trail, all of these events show how our men worked together to fight a good fight with courage and honour.

so remember those who have fallen to bring you this the life that you have now because with out them you could be living in a very different situation

    cheers smokey

Americans are much better at remembering their history than us British I'm afraid, this was significant date and should not be forgotten.

That may just be true because us Americans have a lot less history to remember, Robbie. You Brits have been around a whole lot looooonger.
