We know that when Keith so kindly paved the way for this, our 7000th post, he probably thought we'd be here a little sooner. It's been a VERY busy day . . . but we are finally having time to sit together and let you know how very much it means to be here and have all of you counted among our friends. We thought it would be fun to 'resurrect' our previous milestone posts (see below). As we read through them, we realized that 5 years and 9 months after joining this message board, what we've stated before is as much true today as it has been when we said it in the past. You guys are the BEST, and we think this is the BEST team of John Wayne fans anywhere on the face of the planet.

Thanks again, Keith, for making this thread for us to post in, and thanks to you and Mark, smokey, Todd, Arthur and Jay for your kind thoughts and congratulations! Knowing you has been a blessing we would never have imagined when we first started here.

To all,

OK I know it's corny, but as I near each 10th post, I wonder if that's the one that will put 4 little squares next to my name. So we'll all find out together, as this is my 100th post.

I'm writing this to inspire you all to keep on posting, and when it's time for your 100th post, do it here, and join the 100 Post Club.

500th post

Well, being that a final decision hasn't been made (at least not to my knowledge) regarding new member ranking designations and levels, and we want to post in several other threads, we will post our 500th post, here and now!

The designation can be decided later, but for now, when you hit #500 (Hondo and Robbie, . . . you're next, you know :) ) we hope you'll post here.

This is an AWESOME message board. We've had some great moments here (and yes, we DO have a life beyond the JW message board!). For the most part, this is an incredibly friendly place, full of knowledgeable folks. We've been to other message boards, and come hurrying back here every time (last night, we checked out the IMDb JW message board - before rating The Searchers a 10 - and ended up e-mailing some of the obvious true JW fans there, and inviting them personally to this board. There were truly some jerks there also (we didn't e-mail them).

As Robbie mentioned in his 400th post, the last 100 posts have brought sadness as well as smiles. The passing of Brianb shows us that life here is but a fleeting vapor, and we need to cherish the time we have and live life to the fullest. Kevin's many new innovations here have made this board even better, if such a thing was possible!

The reason this is such a special place is because of all of you, old and new. We appreciate the different perspectives offered here, from young and old, from all around the world. It is truly a team effort here. Without Kevin having set up this board, we'd be . . . who knows where . . . . Without each other to share ideas with, we'd be . . . at maybe 50 posts . . . .

For those of you just starting out, just try to keep a positive attitude, be friendly, and keep on postin' . . . it goes faster than you think.

So . . . looking forward to having company here SOON, and more fun during the next 500 posts, the Lord willin' and the creek don't rise (we actually do have a creek in our back yard, but it's not the rainy season yet).

1000th post

Howdy, y'all!

If you've been wondering why we took so long to post this, it is because we like to do the "landmark" posts together. We do some posts on our own, many together, but ALWAYS the landmark posts together! It's been a few days of trying to find a time when we could both be at the computer at the same time, and now it's here.

It's been about 15 months since I registered as a member of this message board. As you can tell, we sure haven't gotten tired of the place. It's real special to us, as are many of you fellow John Wayne fans. As Hondo has said several times, a year ago, we didn't know any of you, and now we have friends all over the world.

The fact that we have this many posts is a testimony to the fact that there are plenty of you folks out there working your fingers to the bone on the keyboard, giving us something to which to respond. None of this would be possible without YOU! We would like to thank every last one of you who has posted on this board and helped to make this place a fun place to be :D !

And of course NONE of this would be possible, and NONE of us would be here without Kevin being instrumental in starting this board in the first place, and continually adding fun features to it, and guiding us along the way when we need it. THANKS, Kevin! ;)

Thank you all again (don't want to mention any names, or we'll be here all night, and there are other posts we want to make . . . :D ).

Hondo, we expect you'll be joining us here in just a matter of days, good buddy!

1500th post

Well, what do you know? We made it to another milestone!

We're coming up on our second anniversary here on the message board, and I must say, it's been a great time, and we've really enjoyed meeting all of you "wayne-derful" folks (thanks to pegwil for that little phrase ). We just came through a great holiday season and look forward to a good year, both in "real" life and "cyber" life.

Working together here at the message board has been a "bonding" experience for me and the Mrs. - it's something we really enjoy doing together, and can do often, in the comfort of our own home, any time of the day or night.

Long ago, when we were all tossing around ideas for naming the ranking levels for members, 1500 posts seemed forever away, and without hardly trying, here we are! If the most recent suggestion is taken up, we would be the first to reach the El Dorado rank . . . hm-m-m, where's the gold?

Having gotten to know all of you and continue on in enjoying the Duke together - that's worth more than gold!

2000th post

Two years and seven months ago, almost to the day, we became members of this message board. Who knew at that time how far this board would go?

We've been through plenty of good times and a few not-so-good ones, but for the most part, this has been a most pleasurable pastime.

We've made many new friends, around the world - Kevin, smokey and Hondo from almost the very beginning, and many, many more since then (too many to mention without the possibility of leaving out someone's name and causing hurt feelings :( ) - you know who you are!

We've said it before, and we'll say it again - we didn't get here alone - it took all of you to be part of this wonderful, ongoing conversation across the continents.

So here we are, at post #2000. We don't know what surprise (if any) awaits us at this milestone - only Kevin knows that . . . it's been nice knowing all of you . . . as we push the "Post New Topic" button . . .

Well, friends, what can we say? It is amazing the amount of information that is out there for us to find about the many performers, in particular John Wayne.

But even more than that, what we really enjoy about this place is all of you, our friends - a group that has grown over the past three years to include people from all over the globe, people we've never met but count as our friends nonetheless.

Perhaps John Wayne's 100th birthday will be the opportunity for many of us to meet face to face (will it be or or ?).

Our sincerest regards to all of you who make this the wonderful (or should we say "wayne-derful") place that it is, and it is to you that we dedicate this, our 3000th post.

5000 posts!

Who'da thunk it almost 5 years ago?

I realize that, compared to other forums, 5000 posts would be in the slacker category, but for our little community of merry men and women devoted to the memory of John Wayne, this is a first.
We tried finding our very first post, but when you try to see "All posts by this user" it currently only goes back 500 posts. We first posted here sometime in January of 2003.

This much time later, we can say that we have learned much more about John Wayne than we knew when we started here, we have gained friends around the country and the world, and we consider it a privilege to be here and know all of you!

It's been a wonderful adventure, and we look forward to continuing it for a long time to come, with you by our side.

Thanks to Kevn for this wonderful forum, and his diligent efforts to keep it going strong!
