John Wayne has done it again! In the annual Harris Poll asking people about their favorite actors and actresses, John Wayne is again in the top 10 - the ONLY star who holds the distinction of appearing in the top 10 every year since the poll has taken place, and he's been dead the whole time!

John Wayne has done it again!

Thanks for the information Jim,
It's fascinating reading every year,
to know that Duke retains his legendary appeal.
As you say, the only one there every year!
When you think of the blockbuster movies,
that Hanks, Ford, and Depp have made recently,
it is an even more truly amazing achievment for a star
that has not been with us for 30 years!

This is an interesting poll this year. Duke didn't have any movies come out on DVD in 2008. Denzel Washington and Johnny Depp didn't release a movie, and Julia Roberts had a movie out but I think it was only on limited release. Tom Hanks did a movie last year, but it seemed that his son was the headliner and he was just in a limited role. The only ones who did appear in 2008 were Clint Eastwood, Will Smith, Harrision Ford, Angelina Jolie, and Morgan Freeman. Jolie and Freeman are making their Harris Poll debut this year tied for #9.

Duke shot up from number 6 to number 3 again. I'm inclined to take last year as an anomaly given Depp's recent films. Even at that Duke is number 3 for 3 of the last 4 years.

I think it only proves the staying power of greatness.

I think it also underscores the people's desire to see heros in wholesome films that they can relate to.

I doubt Hollywood is going to see it that way though.

Do you ever notice that we never hear about those reports from the mainstream press or media? I mean John Wayne is not number 1 but Clint Eastwood is, and they like him, but as long as John Wayne makes the list which he has from the start, they won't say anything. The first time he goes off, they will say the bad things they want to say condemning him.

Mark my words they will harp on his negative, and never promote his accomplishments. At the Oscars, you very seldom hear John Wayne or see any film clip of him, but we look at the Oscars every year to see. That would include any of the other awards. Don't get me wrong, I'm not interested in this because of the left wing politics, but it does bother me the way they go over board on their top liberals and condemn the conservatives, knowing that the majority of this country is conservative. You figure. Actually I think I know why.

But if it wasn't for you guys on the message board, I wouldn't have known about the Harris Poll. It is good to see John Wayne's name listed every year.

The Duke would roll over in his grave if he could see the liberal movement today and how subtle and overtaking they have become. They want to ruin the Conservative party. The Poll still shows while all the others are alive and in the minds recently, the Duke still has his appeal to the majority of the country, The only good thing about Hollywood is it allows the Duke to live on forever.

I Hate To Admit it , But You Need to give Credit to where Credit is Do !

Gretchen Wayne Mike Wayne's Widow has done a Good Job of Restoring Duke's Old Films and Putting Them On T.V. in the last few years at least here in The U.S. !!

Remember Duke has Not Been on the Big Screen With New Films in Many Years !!!

I giggle madly whenever this poll comes out, because it proves that without a doubt that Duke is the greatest movie star of all time.
