Who among us (other than myself and JW) play poker?!

I know we've all heard the story about how Duke supposedly won one of Lassie's heirs (I think one used on screen) in a poker game. Of course, he felt bad about it, and returned the dog to it's owner (a wrangler/animal trainer) the next day.

What I wish to discuss is how many of us play poker, and what type we enjoy most: Texas Hold 'Em, Pot Limit Omaha, Stud, or regular Draw poker.

How many of us watch the WSOP telecasts on ESPN, or the WPT, or the Heartland Poker Tour?!?!

We can talk about anything related to poker, and of course, how it might relate to John Wayne!

I enjoy a good night of poker with friends. We play Texas Hold 'em now, but years ago, I played mostly dealers choice (5 card stud and draw, seven card no peak, etc). A group of 4 or5 of us would play through the night, but mainly played nickle, dime, quarter bets so that no one would lose the house. We played for fun. I sure miss those games. It seems harder now to get a good game up now that we have all gotten older.

We always played poker in our family. But, when I married and moved to Savannah, we had a "revolving" poker game amongst the serious golfers. It "revolved" so that is was never caught, LOL. My husband played in it but it was a bit much for me, so......I supplied the drinks and dinner and got a cut of every pot....not bad.

But, the game played after every golf game was Hollywood Gin. It was regular Gin, but it was scored with three games running at the same time. We played for a fifth of a cent a point. Sounds really small, but if you were blitzed in all three games.....it could add up to over $Fifty dollars...lot of money way back then. My husband and I were always partners against the other two we had played golf with.
Still enjoy A good game of Poker. I was like Mark....dealer's choice mainly and nickles and dimes. Also played a lot of Black Jack until the games got a bit pricey for me. Loved bridge though......that, I do believe was played by Duke, Pappy, and Ward and whoever was around. I think that is the world's best "thinking" card game. If cards are remembered and played correctly, a little two of diamonds can win a trick!

Don't know nuttin about that game. I used to play a lot of cribbage though.

Yep William me too, Mom taught us and MADE beautiful cribbage boards and the pegs. 15 2 15 4 LOL! Great game! Played a lot of Pinochle and Hearts also. KP

I was recently told by a friend that while in college, I majored in poker and minored in euchre. Indeed, there's a photo in my freshman yearbook of myself playing cards in the lounge.
Never took to Texas hold em, but I'll play stud and draw anywhere. Don't like wild cards either and refuse to play with anyone wearing sunglasses.
I guess I'm a bit of a control freak but I like to think there's more than luck in a card game.

Yes, I play Poker too, The normal Draw Poker and Fiver Card Stud or Seven Card Stud! - But the last time I played Poker against real people was when I was in High-School (over 30 years ago). Today I play Poker only against my computer...
