Thats a rave from the grave.

I don't know about political it was just a western story written by some Americans Australians and a couple of Brits.

if everyone was that political perhaps the world might not be too bad.

For my part considering that i have never read western story in my life It was a bit of fun.

Hi Arthur in terms of correctness I was making light reference to where the saloon girl kicks and receives a punch in return. It was not a serious critique. I think this and the other Western thread were both good reading. A fair bit of time went into them and I think the contributors have provided some entertaining posts.

Glad you liked it. I don't know what the real west was like it is not my sphere of expertise but from early films, westerns,gangsters and even comedy if the girl slapped the man he was expected to receive the hit and do nothing. Gradually this changed probaly starting with James Cagney rubbing a grapefuit in Mae Murrays face. Then in later pictures it was prominent the girl gets angry and slaps the hero who immediately retaliates slapping her back, the girls looks shocked end of scene.

I am not sure of the whys or wherefores of it perhaps it could make for a new subject or continue the debate on this one.
