    Hi sigdog 52

I don't know how far down the road you have got since July, the beauty of going back in time is that you can renew old treads.

    So here goes

I got The Drop Kick and Arizona (Men Are Like That) off of American e bay six or seven months ago.

Before crash day ITDO had raised a post about seemingly lost pictures turning up in National archives and this may well be the case with Brown of Harvard and Bardelys the Magnificent and some of the others you have mentioned.

Arguably, the only film considered to be really and completely lost is the Oregon Trail (1936). You will see the Oregon Trail advertised and occasionally appears on Television but there were three version made of the picture and the John Wayne version was not handled right.

Hope you can get back and update us.

    Regards

    Arthur

Well, let's see if we can bring this thread back a little more, actually with information that I don't think was here before.

I don't know if you ever notice the different ads on our message board page. Thankfully, they are not obnoxious. Today, I noticed one that indicated that JW movies were up to 25% off at Turner Classic Movies, so just for fun I clicked on the link (I am a big fan of Deep Discount DVD online, so wanted to see how Turner's prices would compare).

After I did a search for John Wayne pictures, a LIST came up, in order by date . The first movie in the list was The Drop Kick, and here is the description -

    The Drop Kick [DVD] (1927)
Richard Barthelmess is the star drop-kicker and captain of the Shoreham College football team who is falsely accused of murder after his coach kills himself. Barbara Kent, Dorothy Revier and a host of real-life college gridiron greats (among them USC's John Wayne in an unbilled part) star. Color tinted. 62 min. Silent with music score. Standard; Soundtrack: English; scene access. Plays All Regions.
    Category: Silents Director: Millard Webb
Cast: Richard Barthelmess, Barbara Kent, Dorothy Revier, John Wayne
    Rated: NR B&W
    Was $19.99 Now $18.99 DVD

Just FYI, Deep Discount does not have The Drop Kick, although they do have a pretty extensive selection of Duke films, and generally their prices are quite competitive. In any case, it pays to shop around.
