Exclamation JWMB Effort to buy a block on the Birthplace Walk of Fame

I guess this would be the easiest way to keep track of folks' opinions as to which block we should go for.

The poll is for the 4 titles on the "biggie" $2500 white granite tile. There aren't very many of those available, so it would be neat if we could get one.

So post your vote, and we'll see where it goes from there.

I really liked Sands of Iwo Jimo but Duke was bigger in westerns, so I voted for Red River. And no matter which is chosen, I like them all.

I went with Red River. One of my favorites, plus some was filmed a couple miles down the road.

i chose to vote for she wore a yellow ribbon mainly because it is both a western as well as a sort of war movie and also because our very own chillbill has a small part in this movie

I went with Red River because IMO it was John Wayne's best western movie.

    I voted for Red River.

We are working on plans for the Walk Of Fame brick buying donation drive, and we'll post more info as soon as it's finalized.

Since Stagecoach was not a choice, I went with Three Godfathers.

PS, when it comes time to donate-I want to give a few $$$ towards it. However, I can't do so electronically and have to do it the old fashoined way. In case you forgot what that is-it's called: sending it by snail mail - or - Pony Express ;-))

ing this to the top again, in case some folks have missed this poll.

We've had 18 vote so far, with Red River out in front.

We need as much input as poossible, and for this poll to have any meaning at all, the dollars to back it up.

    Thanks for your support!

In the words of the Duke. the conversation kind of dried up, or as Steve McQueen says in the Sand Pebbles as he laid dying- What the hell happen? The donations have dried up.

    Bill Of Pa,
I agree with You all the way, and as Duke Would Say In the Good Old Days,
" Its Time To Get Off The Pot," and give Kevin some help in getting the
M-O-N-N-E-Y for That Block at the Birthplace.

And there are enough of us that if we Each Just Give A Few Dollars, Kevin can get the Block for ALL Of US that are on this Site !!!

    Hi Smokey

Every little helps no matter what the size.

I tend to agree that we have hit a sticking point. I also feel that given a slight kick with for instance the first thousand dollard being raised perhaps the incentive will gain momentum to acquire the rest. I have tried to generate interest before with limited success. Perhaps someone else can give calling sign in order to get this under way - after all we can vote for whatever name we want but if you ain't got the money to bring it to fruition it means diddly squat.

    Regards

    Arthur

Re: JWMB Effort to buy a block on the Birthplace Walk of Fame

Some members who have not contributed (such as myself) are concerned about the lack of a contingency plan if the official target is not met by the deadline. What will happen to the money raised? Will this money be returned to the donator or will it be put towards something else?

If more of an overview on issues such as this could be given it may alleviate some fears.

    Regards
    Robbie

    smokey,

Your donation arrived TODAY, and we used Paypal to get it directly to Kevin! So you should all see the numbers go up later today.

Robbie, to answer your question, if we don't meet our desired goal, we will get the largest tile our money can buy and donate the balance directly to the museum, in the name of the message board. So let go of those fears and concerns, and help us out! Nobody's going on vacation or driving a new car with the donations!
